Abbreviated Open Thread: Please Pardon our Dust

Abbreviated Open Thread: Please Pardon our Dust

Hey all, I am back from Cleveland and into the office. We are in the process of switching website hosts and upgrading to the new website.

Last week you all were discussing your desire to be able to share photos with each other. One of the things we will be adding is a forum feature where Premium members will be able to maintain their own profile and interact more easily with each other. Other changes will be a _greatly_ improved search feature, streamlined user interface, and a lot of backend stuff that you all will only notice through increased site performance.

The downside of this is that certain posts, comments, etc. are going to vanish down a black hole unless they are saved individually, migrated, and reposted. The logistics of doing this with a 30 meme post is not the most efficient use of my time in a week where I let other things pile up when I was traveling and finishing my writing for the November print issue.  I am not so concerned with losing a few newsfeed posts, many of which will be easy to port over anyway. New comments will likely be lost as well.

There will be a period of time when Flipbooks won’t work, nor will any of the other Premium Membership features. But we will be getting things back online as quickly as we can, and we appreciate your patience.

When everything is back up and running, KnifeMagazine.com should be significantly better in terms of both performance and content.

Just because I am taking it easy with the memes this week, doesn’t mean that we don’t want to share the happenings from our Events Calendar…

The big thing this weekend is the Moran All Forged Show Saturday, and Grand Opening of the new Educational Facility on Sunday.

Moran Foundation & Museum All Forged Knife Show & Auction

I can’t wait to see Hocky’s pictures.

Next weekend:

Friday Night Blade Affair

Fall California Custom Knife Show

I am going to skip the drawing this week, and will pool last week’s comments with this week’s for a drawing next Friday in a full Weekend Open Thread. Up to 5 comments from last week and 5 comments from this week count for your entries.

Have a good weekend everyone.
